Family-friendly restaurant in Bradford

The "Heathfield Farm - Dining & Carvery" in Bradford, England, is a cozy and family-friendly restaurant that is part of the British chain Farmhouse Inns. This chain specializes in offering traditional pub classics and generous carvery meals in a welcoming atmosphere, and Heathfield Farm is no exception. Ideally located in West Yorkshire, close to major transport links and big cities like Leeds and Huddersfield, it attracts both travelers and locals. The restaurant combines British hospitality with a focus on quality and hearty food, making it a popular gathering place for families, friends, and food enthusiasts.

Best carvery in Yorkshire

The atmosphere at Heathfield Farm is warm and inviting, with a typical pub character with modern touches. The decor is functional yet cozy, with separate areas for adults and families, equipped with an indoor play area for children - a detail that allows parents to relax and enjoy their meal while the little ones are entertained. On warmer days, a beer garden invites guests to enjoy their meals outdoors, enhancing the relaxed vibe. The restaurant is designed to provide a feeling of "home away from home", emphasized by the friendly Yorkshire hospitality of the staff.

Traditional British pub culture

Culinarily, Heathfield Farm is particularly known for its carvery, which is considered the highlight of the menu. Here, meat varieties like juicy beef, tender turkey, and flavorful ham are slow-roasted for 14 hours and carved in front of guests. A highlight is the "Sunday Carvery", served with fluffy Yorkshire puddings, crispy roast potatoes, and a variety of freshly prepared vegetables - a traditional British experience that is available daily. In addition to the carvery, there are also pub classics like the "British Beef & Ale Pie", a hearty pie with tender meat and rich beer sauce to warm the soul. For those with a sweet tooth, the restaurant offers homemade cakes, such as the "Chocolate Fudge Cake", with its creamy texture and intense chocolate flavor making for a perfect ending.

Cozy restaurants with play area

The menu is complemented by a versatile breakfast selection, particularly popular on weekends. The "Full English Breakfast" with sausages, bacon, fried eggs, and beans is a favorite for those looking to start the day off strong. The drink selection is also impressive: in addition to a wide range of beers and wines, unlimited hot drinks like coffee or tea are available, especially appreciated during longer stays. The kitchen places a strong emphasis on fresh ingredients and also offers vegetarian and vegan options, catering to every taste.

Enjoy traditional English breakfast

The service at Heathfield Farm is friendly and efficient, with a team dedicated to providing guests with a pleasant experience. The option to order and pay via an app streamlines the process, especially on busy days. The restaurant also offers takeaway options, including the popular carvery to go, making it ideal for those who want to enjoy the taste of Heathfield Farm at home. For families, it is particularly attractive, as in addition to the play area, there is a children's menu with smaller portions of the most popular dishes.

We had a family booking for 17:30pm. on 7th. March 2025 at your Birkenshaw restaurant. Upon arrival we were surprisingly led to a table right in the centre of the children's play area which was very noisy to say the least. Don't misunderstand I have nothing against children and having their own play area is a great idea but i seem to recall an option on your booking form offering the choice of either sitting in the family play area or not. What I couldn't understand was the meal was booked to celebrate a 71st. Birthday so it was not the ideal position for our table. This however was not the only problem, the table was not big enough anyway for a party of 9. We spoke to a member of staff who seemed to be the one responsible for table allocation who told us they couldn't help but would speak to a more senior member of staff. We were then informed that the table was for 8 people but that was all we had booked for and the table was fine and so we would not be offered an alternative. If you check your records you will see the booking was made for 9 not 8. this was confirmed back to me by email from your restaurant. As a designated 8 person table there was physically not enough room to seat 9 people anyway which made the whole situation a total farce. We immediately left the restaurant disgusted at the treatment and without dining. We had visited your restaurant on numerous occasions in the past, however being treated in such a RUDE and INCONSIDERATE manner, you can be sure we shall not be visiting again. But if that kind of I really dont care attitude is becoming the norm amongst your staff at Birkenshaw, they probably wont care anyway. P.s. Thank your staff for ruining what should have been a happy family Birthday celebration.

What a horrible experience we have had here this morning and can confirm we definitely won’t be returning. Came for breakfast with my family, toddler and brand new baby , for some down time and to let my little boy play. Firstly we was shown to a table which was not pram friendly, the staff did not help us in the slightest when they could clearly see we was struggling to get past all the tables. We then was told in quite a rude manner you better hurry up there is only five minutes left to order. I have never felt so rushed by members of staff who were clearly wanting us out as they were clearing our plates and tables before we had even finished. I have never felt so unwelcome in my life

We all went for carvery. Barely any meat allowed, roast potatoes were stale and had an awful after taste. Mash was lumpy too. Not good at all given how busy this place normally gets

Horrible experience here this morning and definitely won’t be returning. Came for breakfast with my mum, sister and her toddler and baby , for breakfast and toddler to play. I have never felt so rushed to get done and leave , they were clearing our plates and tables before we had even finished and the food was cold
